Summer Activities

Looking for something fun to do with your family to do this summer but don’t want to spend a fortune? Look no further, we’ve compiled a list of several fun and free family activities for the summer.

One of our greatest free area resources is the Summit Metroparks system. The system includes over 125 miles of trails for walking, biking, hiking and riding. In addition, they offer several educational exhibits and activities for kids at their two nature centers throughout the year.

Another awesome and free family activity is the concert series put on by the City of Akron. On most evenings though the middle of August local parks will host outdoor concerts. Check the City of Akron’s website and Facebook page to find specifics on dates, times and who will be playing at each event.

In addition, make sure to stop in to your local Home Depot, Michaels, Lowe’s and Lakeshore Learning stores to make a fun and free project on a specific day of the month. Check your local store for dates and times and projects!

Finally, the Akron-Summit County Library has dozens of awesome family activities going on at each of its many locations this summer including movie showings, story time, crafts and puppet shows. Contact your local library or go on their website to learn more.

Go out and enjoy the summer!
